the west coast wonders and waters of SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA

No matter what kind of traveler you are, San Diego has got you covered. Beach lover? There’s 70 miles of coastline to explore. History buff? Head over to Old Town or the USS Midway. Foodie? You’ll definitely eat well here from taco stands to waterfront dining in La Jolla (pronounced la hoya).

La Jolla offers a totally different feel from Downtown San Diego. It’s approachable, yet upscale. Its dramatic ocean cliffs are breathtaking, and it has a bounty of boutique shops and great restaurants. The La Jolla Cove is perfect for spotting sea lions, kayaking through sea caves, or just simply relaxing on a bench watching the waves roll in. If you’re more adventurous, consider a boat tour offering ocean excursions to observe whales and dolphins. Whatever you do, be sure to bring your camera—La Jolla is ridiculously photogenic.

From the world-renowned San Diego Zoo to a round of golf at the Torrey Pines Municipal Golf Course, this is a place packed with experiences. Whether you’re here for three days or a full week, you’ll leave with a long list of reasons to come back.

If you only do one “touristy” thing while you’re here, let it be Balboa Park. Why? The Spanish-style architecture, museums, walking paths, and open spaces make it easy to spend hours exploring without even realizing it. And yes—the San Diego Zoo is really as good as everyone says. It’s massive, beautifully maintained, and offers a great mix of education and fun for everyone.

The Embarcadero is one of the very best spots to catch views of the bay, especially at sunset. You can also tour the USS Midway Museum, walk along the harbor, or even hop on a harbor cruise for a different perspective of this beautiful city.

If you like to golf while traveling, Torrey Pines Golf Course is an outstanding 36-hole municipal course and is recognized as one of the nation’s top premiere golf facilities. Even if you’re not a big golfer, this course is still worth viewing just for the views alone. It sits high above the Pacific with rugged cliffs and ocean breezes. If golf’s not your thing, the Torrey Pines State Reserve has hiking trails with some of the best coastal views in Southern California.

With perfect West Coast weather, walkable neighborhoods, and a list of your favorite things to see and do, this city makes it easy. If San Diego is calling you out West, I'd love to help answer any questions you have and help you get there when the time feels right.
